Overseas Travel Update

We now have a better understanding of the new criteria for overseas travel to green listed countries.

One of the biggest concerns for us is what happens if you test positive before your return home to the UK?

These details have not been widely reported in the media. In our opinion this is a really important question and as it stands the information from the government, flight providers and travel associations is that if you do test positive you will NOT be allowed to fly home. If you fail to provide a test at the airport you may still not be allowed to board.

Each country will have its own procedures in place to cover this eventuality. Some flight companies may allow you to change your flight for a fee, some will not. It is very unlikely your travel insurance will cover you for this and it is also very unlikely you will have much of a choice of where you will be asked to quarantine.

In light of the government’s announcement made last Friday, we have now cancelled all our Bridge and Chess Overseas holidays and events until September. We are confident that this situation will be resolved in the coming weeks or months and in good time before our holidays abroad start again on the 5th of September 2021.
