The evening bridge will be relaxed duplicate with pre-dealt boards and hand records available for the main evening sessions. The morning bridge depends on numbers, pairs or teams may be played. We also offer morning seminars (you can request subjects to be covered in the seminars) and workshops (featuring interesting hands from the previous session). These are dependent on numbers and demand and subject to change at the directors discretion. We aim to play 21-27 boards in the evening bridge sessions and 14-16 boards for morning sessions. Not licensed by the EBU, so no master points available.

Our New Relaxed Bridge Holidays will continue to be run by experienced and EBU trained directors, but will not be offering Master points or adhering to many of the rules that slow play or get in the way of what is a most enjoyable, sociable and mentally challenging game.  The format will be the same as our Standard Bridge Holidays ie; a morning workshop or seminar followed by a short morning and main evening session after dinner. You will however be able to call on the director for assistance during play and rules referring to revokes, bids/leads out of turn, insufficient bids, hesitations, penalty, exposed and stop cards will be not be enforced. The aim is to not only encourage more card play but also a less formal and a more relaxed atmosphere in the bridge room for players with a wider range of abilities or experience.

Duplicate bridge is played under a set of rules created by the EBU which for many seems to be getting more and more complex and not always conducive for a fun and enjoyable holiday. The same rules apply if your playing in a serious competitive congress event, playing at your local bridge club or on holiday. Inexperienced players can easily fall foul of these rules and can be put off playing bridge early on. Whilst experienced players can also find these rules are slowing and reducing play too much. We have been successfully organising less formal assisted play or supervised bridge holidays for several years now and see that these holidays are being enjoyed far more and by a wider range of abilities. We are now offering these more accessible and relaxed bridge holidays, for both experienced club standard players and for those that are improving, new to the game or have simply not played for some time. If you are unsure which of our bridge holidays is best suited to you, please give us a call on 01656 747-700.
